We also won our final league football match on Thursday, beating Kellington 3-2 in a close fought great game. This means we are undefeated this academic year, a great achievement, and we go forward to the league finals at Riccall next week.

Last night we beat Kirk Fenton School 8 – 0 at football. This was a very convincing win with much better play in the second half. Well done boys especially Mathew Oates who played very unselfishly setting up lots of goals through some great passing. Thank you to Dave Pegg and Bev Franks for helping to sort things out in Mrs Carlisle’s absence and to Dave for refereeing.

We played another league football match and had a 4-1 win against Kellington School. This was a hard fought match with tougher than previous opposition but it leaves us as top of the league at the moment. Well done boys!

There was another great win for the boys’ football team against Saxton school on Monday 7 – 0! There was fabulous play by all especially Ryan who scored a hat trick in the first 5 minutes. Well done to all.

The girls’ football team played a friendly match versus Saxton on Monday and lost 3 – 0. In spite of this the pupils improved their play with some good tackling from Becky. Well done to all the team and thank you to the parents who supported us.

We had a friendly Foundation Stage / Key Stage 1 football match versus Burton Salmon on Wednesday. As this is a small school we match the composition of their team and we did brilliantly – winning 6-0! Some children were very nervous about their first match but everyone tried very hard. A special mention must go to Emily Wilkinson who is the first Foundation Stage child ever to score a goal for our school, closely followed by Bradley Fisher who also scored and had a great game, as did Megan Sharp. Well done to all who took part and supported the team.

Our girls’ football team played a friendly match against Kirk Fenton on Monday. The score was 5-5 and we came from behind at every stage of the match, playing very well in the second half to earn the draw. Great goals by Holly and Megan Stockhill as well as some fantastic defensive clearances by Alicia. Thank you to all the parents who supported us.

We played a friendly football match against Burton Salmon on Wednesday. As Burton Salmon is a very small school we match the composition of their KS2 team. It was a reasonable even game which we won 2-0, thanks to goals by Lewis and Holly. Everyone played well and it was great to see Miles play his first competitive match. Thank you to all the parents who supported us and helped with transport and to Dave Pegg for refereeing. Please could all sports kit be back in school for Monday.

Another win for the boys’ football team in a league match at Kirk Fenton School. We won 4-1, 2 goals from Coby, 1 from Ryan and 1 from Ethan. Another very good team performance, especially in the first half. Thank you to all the parents who supported and transported.

We had our first football league game this year on Monday and beat Saxton 6-0 in an impressive victory. The whole team played their part and contributed to the win. Some great goals by Coby, Ryan and Lewis with some super passing and setting up the rest. Many thanks to Dave Pegg for refereeing brilliantly and for all the parental support.

The girls football team played in the sports partnership girls football team on Wednesday. We came second out of 6 teams beating Cliffe, Kellington and Escrick schools. We drew with St Mary’s and lost to Appleton Roebuck. The girls played really well. We had no subs and were only beaten by a team made up of entirely year 5 and year 6 girls. Our team was a mixture of all Key Stage 2 pupils. Thank you to parents who helped with transport and supported us.

Monday 19th October 2009
The boys’ football team took part in the area final of the ESFA and played against other teams in order to represent Selby District at the North of England finals. We got through as runners up. We lost against North Duffield but beat Carlton which was enough to get through. The boys did really well as lots of them had been ill this week and it was a great goal by Ryan with some good support play by Ethan. We look forward to the next round which will be played at some point in January in Scarborough.

We hosted the first round of the English Schools FA cup here last night and won! It was a wonderful performance by our team, we beat Kellington 5 – 0, Kirk Fenton 4 – 0 and Saxton 3 – 0. It was one of the best examples of the whole team working together that Mrs Carlisle has seen with fantastic defence not conceding a goal and some great passing setting Coby up for some fabulous goals. We now go on to the next round at Riccall on Thursday 22nd October. Thanks to parents for the great support.

The girls football team played their first friendly match on Wednesday at Kirk Fenton and won 3 -1. It was a newly put together team and all the girls seemed to enjoy playing and tried very hard. We had a friendly 8 a side football match against Kirk Fenton School on Wednesday. It was a fair result 2-2. Our goals were scored by Coby and Ryan, and Oliver made some great saves in goal. We started the football season with a fantastic win in a friendly game against Burton Salmon. Mrs Carlisle lost track of the score but it was approximately 10 - 0. It was lovely to see new members of the team fit so well and our older members making them feel very welcome and encouraging them. The Headteacher of Burton Salmon School made a point of saying to Mrs Carlisle how polite our team were. Well done!

We had a mixed Foundation 2, Year 1 and Year 2 football match against Burton Salmon School. The score was 1-1, a fair result. It was lovely to see so many enthusiastic young footballers supported by their parents. The children played in a really supportive fun way showing great sportsman like behaviour.

We took part in the annual spring cup boys tournament at Carlton on Thursday. We were runners up overall having lost to Carlton 1-0 in the final. This was a great team performance by everyone especially Jake in goal. Thank you to parents who supported the children and helped with transport.

We played the first ever Year 2/Year 3 football match against Burton Salmon on Wednesday. It was a lovely friendly games which the children really enjoyed. We won 4-0 thanks to 3 goals by Sebbie and 1 by William. We hope to have a return match before the end of term. It was also great to have so much parental support so thank you.

We had a friendly football match against Burton Salmon on Wednesday winning 8-1. Most of the goals were scored by Coby and Ryan. On Wednesday the football team, as league winners, went to play against North Duffield for the overall league trophy. We lost 3-0 but we did have some chances to score although on balance we were probably beaten by a better team. Special mentions go to Tyger and Coby who played very well and to Harry who never stopped running! None the less, it was a great achievement to win our league, the first time that our school has done so. We have some medals which will be handed out in the next sharing assembly. On Monday we played Kirk Fenton in a boy’s league football match. The score was 2-2; we came from behind twice to earn this draw, from 2 great goals by Reece & Harry.

We took part in the annual 5-a-side indoor football tournament at Selby College. We did not qualify for the next round as we drew 3 games and lost one. There was some good play and a great effort by all players especially as this was the first time we had played to the new FUTSAL rules for indoor 5-a-side games. Thanks to Jackie for helping with transport.
